- Spring is in the air! Now is the time to prepare the garden so you’ll have plenty of fresh cut flowers for your interiors. My favorites are peonies and hydrangeas. There’s something so wonderful about the smell of fresh flowers in your home. A floral designer by the name of Ruth L. has made beautiful arrangements for the White House for the past 25 years. Check out: www.ruthl.com.
- Spring is also a great time to spruce up your bedding. For some unique ready made products, check out Garnet Hill, www.garnethill.com. There are sheets with novelty prints including bicycle wheels and horse figures. Large patterns with bold colors will be a focal point of your bedroom leaving room for subtle artwork and accessories. Polka dot patterns are also fun for a contemporary or traditional setting. Throw a brightly colored rug atop a wood floor to complement the look and unite the space.
- I always say lighting makes the space. Hammerton, located in Utah, is a company with some great quality iron light fixtures. The chandelier CH1006 in the Seriph collection is a simple contemporary fixture with a whimsical touch. Available in multiple metal and shade options, it’s a design that demonstrates that contemporary doesn’t always have to be straight or planar. Another of my favorites is the pendant LA2113 in the contemporary collection. I could see several of these hanging over a kitchen island or dining room table. Visit www.hammerton.com for design inspiration.
- Live in an urban area? Where would a person lock up their bike? The design of the Umbrella Arc bike racks on www.bikearc.com takes locking your bike up to a whole different level. Not only do the racks protect you from the elements, they’re made with photovoltaic panels. To see a truly different design perspective, check out Bikearc.com.
